SUMMER COLOR DAZE

Turquoise Jeans <3
Coral Kate Spade Bag <3<3
Its been a little while since my last post; I've been really inspired by everything going on in life and have been living it instead of writing it, but now it is time to start sharing again.  For my first post back I really wanted to share my obsession with beach life.  Since I've been working at a large department store, which shall remain nameless, I have started to realize how much I do not fit in there in terms of my sense of style. This in turn has heightened my awareness of my own style and pushed me more toward it in an effort to define myself outside of my job. Which I love.  I cherish every moment of free time that I have now that I work during sunlight hours and my favorite moments are spent at the beach.  I've started to embrace beach culture more, in my own way.  It feels natural and beautiful; wavy beach hair straight from the ocean and curled by the wind, golden skin exfoliated by the sand and sweetened by coconut sunblock , naps in the sun and a deep breath of relaxation. I never feel more beautiful than I do during the summer months, and I want to embrace every moment of it, even if it is only Spring.

Working in a department store does have some perks because even though I define myself outside of it I still get to do a lot of people watching and I get a better idea of what I do and do not like from mainstream fashion. What I like right now are bright colors, my favorite? Orange Corals, as you can see by my photos. I think everyone is feeling the neon and bright colors right now, but not everyone is brave enough to wear them together. My moral on color this season is don't do matchy matchy, do do contrasting/ complimentary colors together- color blocking. I've been loving these turquoise jeans I have and wearing them with orangy corals, purples, and even yellows. It feels so summery and feminine.
But seriously with the matchy matchy thing. I met a woman the other day who had bought these fabulous Ferragamo purple pumps and was looking for a purple bag to match. Not only do we not carry any purple hand bags right now, but how predictable to match your bag to your shoes. It took some convincing but I think I had her searching for a hot pink or even a bright turquoise bag to pop against her neutral dress by the time she left. I can almost see her all dressed up and she looks fabulous, I only wish her dress had some color too!
This Spring and Summer let your hair down and embrace some color in your life. I know my color obsession is fueled a little by a drab work wardrobe but I say- try to throw some color into your work clothes too but especially into your weekend wear. Have fun Coloring!
